State’s First “One Water” School Breaks Ground

The Wimberly, TX Independent School District has broken ground on a future primary school at Ranch Road 12 and Winters Mill Parkway in the Austin suburb. Furthermore, the 90,600-square-foot campus will be the state of Texas’ first “One Water” campus. The campus, which will hold up to 800 students, will include rainwater and HVAC condensate collection and wastewater treatment and re-use.

The as-yet-unnamed school is scheduled to open summer 2020. The $31.3-million bond project was given the go-ahead by Wimberly residents in May 2018. In addition to 40 pre-kindergarten through second-grade classrooms, the new campus will include a gym, library, cafeteria and reading and math intervention rooms.

“We’re excited to get this project underway, and are really looking forward to that first-day of school experience for all our younger students at this spacious, state-of-the art, green campus, in a little over a year from now,” said Wimberly ISD’s Dwain York.
