Staten Island Development Project Plans Filed

Prospect JV Developments LLC filed plans to construct a five-story building on Prospect Street in Stapleton, Staten Island. Should the project be approved, the developer will go north on a property containing first-floor retail space and 44 upscale apartments. The proposed project would also have parking for 33 cars.

According to Ahron Kirzner, one of the development partners, the neighborhood will gentrify, partly because of the ferry coming to Stapleton. Experts also believe that Stapleton could become the New York metro’s next hottest neighborhood.

The project will involve merging three separate tax lots into one, as well as tear-downs of vacant homes at 84 and 86 Prospect St. Though the approval process could take up to six months, Stapleton is no stranger to teardowns of old houses. In April, an historic home on Van Duzer Street was torn down.
