Starbucks’ Seattle Store Won’t Be the Biggest in the World Anymore

By: Daniella Soloway

Whether you call it grande, venti or trenta, Starbucks is going big, and it’s not at home.

Seattle-based Starbucks is going to one up its very own 15,000 square-foot Seattle Reserve Roastery and Tasting location. Planned to open in 2018 in southwest Chelsea in New York, the new 20,000 square foot space at the bottom of 61 Ninth Ave. will take the cake as the world’s largest Starbucks location.

SCG Retail’s Managing Partner David Firestein represented Starbucks in the deal. The massive store will take up two levels in a 170,000-square-foot, nine-story office building that Vornado Realty Trust and Aurora Capital Associates are developing.

Starbucks Chairman and Chief Executive Howard Schultz said, “In New York, we want to take elements from what we originally created and build something even bigger and bolder.”
