Stanley Chera, Crown Acquisitions Founder, Dies at 78

Crown Acquisitions founder Stanley Chera died Saturday after a nearly month-long battle with the novel coronavirus, the New York Post reported. Chera was 78.

As COVID-19 spread in New York City, the Post reported, longtime friend Donald Trump had advised Chera to decamp to the Jersey Shore enclave of Deal. There, Chera and many other Syrian Jewish families have large summer homes on the Atlantic Ocean. Yet, Chera was rushed to New York Presbyterian Hospital from Deal late last month.

Born in Brooklyn, Chera went from working in his father Isaac’s small store to buying the building next door and amassing a real estate dynasty worth billions. Later, he became a Republican donor and backed Trump in his presidential bid.

Chera is survived by his three sons, Richard and Isaac, who run Crown Acquisitions, and Chaim, who joined Vornado Realty Trust. There are also numerous grandchildren.
