KSL Reflags St. Regis as Monarch Beach Resort
Denver-based KSL Capital Partners is dropping the St. Regis flag at its 400-room resort in Dana Point. The property will change its name to Monarch Beach Resort in June.
KSL is nearing completion of a $40-million renovation that affects rooms, dining, the pool area and a branded spa at the 169-acre property. The private equity firm acquired the resort in 2014 for $316.9-million, and continued to operate under the Starwood Hotels & Resorts brand.
The resort, which opened in 2001, will now be operated by KSL. The company has experience owning and operating such high-end resorts in California as Squaw Valley, Rancho Las Palmas, La Quinta, La Costa, and the Hotel del Coronado.
