Spurs Practice Facility to Anchor Mixed-Use Campus
There was a time when basketball teams had to practice in dingy, cold gyms. For those players who are at the top of their game, those days are gone. The San Antonio Spurs aren’t even calling it a gym. It’s now being called a Performance Center. The center, which spans more than 130,000 square feet, will anchor a $500 million mixed-use campus near Six Flags Fiesta called The Rock at La Cantera.
The San Antonio Business Journal reports The Victory Capital Performance Center will include a motion capture shooting lab and environmental training room, as well as hydrotherapy pools, a sensory deprivation tank and a performance kitchen, among other features. Joeris General Contractors began work on the performance center in January 2022, and the building is scheduled to be completed in August, ahead of the 2023-2024 NBA season.
The larger campus is expected to include restaurant, residential and medical space, along with some entertainment components and public spaces.
