Sports and Fitness Facility to Anchor Dallas-Area Mixed-Use Project
The $130 million development, on 52 acres will be the largest ever built in Kaufman, a Dallas suburb. The project, called South Pointe Park, will be anchored by a 147,000 square-foot sports center with basketball, volleyball, indoor turf, batting cages and an 8-lane bowling alley. It will also consist of a 100-room hotel, 180 apartment units and restaurants on South Houston Street. Future phases will include office space and 69 townhomes. A splash park and walking trails are also included in the design.
It’s a joint venture of Dallas-based Cedar Crest Development and the city of Kaufman. “We wanted to create a destination for people to live, work, walk and play… in this area of the county and region,” said Cedar Crests’ David L. Willis. Manning APC is the project architect, and Azteca Enterprises is the general contractor. The Kaufman ISD will use the facility for its sports teams.
