SPCA Takes Former Animal Holding Facility
The SPCA of East Texas bought the city of Tyler, TX out of the last five years in a lease on an animal-holding facility on Grande Avenue. The city and SPCA had entered into a 10-year lease in 2012, in which the city built, and used, the temporary animal shelter on the property, which was owned by the SPCA.
In exchange for reverting the facility at (get the address) back to the non-profit SPCA, it agreed to give the city 850 vouchers for services including low-cost spay and neuter services, rabies vaccinations and microchipping. The value of the services is $76,500. The organization also agreed to increase the number of animals it accepts from the city’s shelter to 175 per year, or 14 per month.
