SpaceX Reportedly Plans Resort at South Texas Hub

SpaceX, the American aerospace manufacturer and space transportation services company founded by Tesla CEO Elon Musk, apparently plans to build a luxury resort as part of its travel package to Mars.

The Houston Chronicle reported that SpaceX posted a want ad for a resort development manager to be based in Brownsville, the nearest city to the SpaceX site in Boca Chica.

First spotted by CNBC’s Michael Sheetz, the ad seeks a manager who would “oversee the development of SpaceX’s  first resort from inception to completion,” with the ultimate goal of turning Boca Chica into a “21st century Spaceport.”

Responsibilities would include overseeing the design and construction process and completing the ultimate build of the facility.

According to Tech Crunch, Musk shared his intent to build floating spaceports for both interstellar and point-to-point Earth travel in June, when SpaceX said it was seeking Offshore Operations Engineers, also based in Brownsville.
