SpaceX Dismantles Hyperloop in Hawthorne

SpaceX Dismantles Hyperloop in Hawthorne

As Elon Musk tries to improve Twitter, another one of the billionaire’s projects has been shelved…at least temporarily. Bloomberg is reporting that Hyperloop, the ambitious SpaceX prototype tunnel for a futuristic transportation system in Hawthorne, CA, has been torn down.

The mile-long white cylinder running along Jack Northrop Avenue near the SpaceX office was supposed to be a proving ground for high-speed levitating pods, and actually hosted competitions for that endeavor, but apparently Elon Musk has decided to move on. He has since founded the Boring Co., a not-so-high-speed underground transportation project.

If you drive along Jack Northrop Avenue, you’ll see no sign of the Hyperloop test track, maybe just some workers prepping for their next project on that spot. A local city council member said there will now be SpaceX parking spots lining the street where the tunnel once stood.
