South Texas Health System Begins Work on Alamo Emergency Center
South Texas Health System began construction on a freestanding emergency center in Alamo, TX in the Rio Grande Valley. STHS ER Alamo at 140 E. Frontage Rd., is a 10,000-square-foot facility going north for $10 million. Completion is scheduled for the end of 2018.
In recent months, STHS broke ground on emergency centers in Edinburg and McAllen. According to the organization’s Conrad Brown, the Alamo center is being built to provide emergency care for residents between Weslaco and McAllen. “Alamo was chosen because we wanted to partner here with the community where they do not have access and have to travel far for services,” Brown said during the Alamo groundbreaking ceremony.
Added Alamo Fire Chief Roy Contreras, “We can bring our patients from accidents and medical calls a lot closer, than going all the way to McAllen or Edinburg.”
