South Side’s West Pullman Will Get City’s 2nd Largest Fire Station
West Pullman will be getting a 25,000-square-foot fire station to be built on vacant land. The new facility at 119th and Morgan streets will replace the existing Engine Company 115 station at 11940 S. Peoria St.
The new fire station will be the second-largest in the city, housing a Chicago Fire Department District Office, an Office of Emergency Management and Communications radio communication tower, and three ambulances. The radio tower, said Fire Commissioner Richard C. Ford II, “will enhance communications for the South and South East sides of the city.”
Development of the estimated $30-million project will be managed by the Public Building Commission of Chicago. A summer 2020 opening is anticipated.
