South Side Chicago Facility Set for Redevelopment

Connect Industrial is coming to Chicago, June 28th. Here’s where to get more details and register.

Urbana, IL-based Flex-N-Gate plans to open a new 288,000-square-foot manufacturing facility on Chicago’s South Side. Redevelopment of an existing warehouse, near a Ford assembly plant, is expected to be completed in early 2019.

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel described the new plant as part of a Chicago “manufacturing renaissance” that is bringing jobs and new investment, and strengthens Chicago’s manufacturing ecosystem. Flex-N-Gate committed to hire at least 286 full-time employees over the next three years, and will invest at least $30 million into the facility.

The auto parts manufacturer produces bumpers, radiators, hinges, as well as original equipment, and is the 10th largest OEM supplier in North America. Flex-N-Gate is owned by billionaire Shahid Khan, who also owns the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars and the English Premier League’s Fulham Football Club.

CBRE handles leasing and management of the facility on East 126th Street in the South Deering community.
