GAF Georgetown opens doors

Solar Shingle Maker Opens 450K SF Georgetown Plant

GAF Energy has completed construction on its second manufacturing facility. The company makes solar energy shingles. The 450,000-square-foot building in Georgetown, will have an annual production capacity of 250 MW of the solar shingles. Full operation is planned for the end of this year.

The 250-MW Texas facility joins GAF Energy’s existing 50-MW factory in San Jose, California. The company’s 300-MW manufacturing capacity now makes it the largest producer of solar roofing in the world.

GAF Energy began hiring earlier this year and has brought on more than 75 people in manufacturing, supply chain, logistics and other associated roles. The company will employ more than 240 people based in Georgetown at full capacity. The company’s Timberline Solar line is the only roof system to directly integrate solar technology into traditional roofing processes and materials.
