A private investor paid $9.8 million, or $2,345 per square foot, for a SoHo townhouse with a celebrity past. The 4,200-square-foot, four-story townhouse at 51 Macdougal St. was the home of Something Special, a mailbox rental shop with celebrity customers including Sarah Jessica Parker, Matthew Broderick, Patti Smith, and Lucy Lawless.

The celebrity clientele probably says something about the neighborhood surrounding the townhouse, located in the Charlton-King-Vandam Historic District.

“The townhouse includes highly visible retail space on the ground floor and lower level, and 105 feet of wraparound frontage on Macdougal Street and Houston Street,” said Adelaide Polsinelli, managing director and principal at Eastern Consolidated, who both represented the seller, the Estate of Lucy and Lenny Cecere, and procured the buyer, 51 Macdougal LLC.
