Social Innovation Accelerator Coming to South Bronx

Communitas America, a social impact organization, is building Heyground, a new social innovation accelerator located at The Hub in the South Bronx, set to open in 2021.

Developed by HGI America, Inc., the 45,000-square-foot space will feature more than 20 small offices for mission-driven for-profit and nonprofit organizations, and ground-floor spaces for local beverage and food purveyors to support the growth of Bronx-based businesses.

Located in a refurbished 1904-vintage building at 521 Bergen Ave., Heyground will also feature amenities including conference rooms on every floor, office spaces, a reservable podcast room, event and venue space, a mother’s room, and a meditation and prayer space.

Heyground will become Communitas America’s headquarters, acting as the hub for Communitas’ social impact programming. This includes Communitas Ventures, a three-month accelerator program designed for social entrepreneurs.
