SoCal Flower Market MXU Development Moves Forward

The owners of the historic Southern California Flower Market’s proposed $170-million expansion of its two-building property in DTLA into a mixed-use development moved forward with the release of a draft EIR. The planned project would consist of wholesale trade, retail, restaurant, office and residential uses.

The new Flower Market building at 7th Street, between Wall and Maple Avenue, is envisioned to replace the existing south building with a 15-story tower containing 323 residential units in 12 stories, as well as three stories of office, retail, restaurant, wholesale flower market and parking. More than 64,000 square feet of office is planned, as well as roughly 64,000 square feet of wholesale and storage along with nearly 18,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space and more than 10,000 square feet of event space.

Construction is anticipated to begin in 2019 and conclude in 2022. The Flower Market would continue to operate in the existing north building during and after the redevelopment.
