Small Businesses Get Pushed by Minimum-Wage Hikes
This is a tough one.
Low-income employees have trouble paying their bills. At the same time, small retail and manufacturing businesses face difficulty paying employees as minimum-wage increases are adapted in different locales.
Royal Truck Body, for example, which is based in Los Angeles and makes vehicles for trade and utilities businesses is considering moving out of the city, due to an increase of the average wage to $15 an hour.
The firm currently has 100,000 square feet of manufacturing space in Paramount, Calif., and more in the north part of the state, as well as a facility in Texas.
Other firms are facing similar issues across the country.
