Salt Lake City Greenlights 183-Unit Affordable Housing
Salt Lake City, Utah’s Redevelopment Agency (through its city council) approved a 183-unit residential and retail project, which would include affordable housing, on a site near the jazz district. Clearwater Homes and PEG development are planning three five-story buildings, ground-level retail and green space, near 200 South, between 300 West and 400 West.
The development could deliver as early as 2019. Approximately 36 of the units would be subsidized for low-income housing. Under a deed covenant, the apartments would remain affordable for 30 years. With market-rate monthly rents averaging from $1,100-$1,500, the subsidy would bring that amount down to between $713-$911.
