Skender Completes 230K-SF Interior Construction of HQ Expansion at One South Wacker
Skender, serving as general contractor, has completed the 230,000-square-foot buildout of Invenergy’s One South Wacker Drive headquarters in Chicago.
As North America’s largest privately held developer, owner, and operator of power infrastructure, Invenergy originally occupied floors 18, 19 and 20. Skender completed upgrades to those floors in addition to the demolition and full construction of five additional floors. Invenergy now occupies seven floors.
Working alongside Lumen Workplace as Owner’s Rep, Partners by Design as architect, and Syska Hennessy as engineer, Skender delivered the buildout and renovation in three phases over 12 months.
It includes an open-office concept, a three-floor atrium stair, two roof decks, a large café and an 8,000-square-foot state-of-the-art control center for managing global power markets and operations.
“We set out to deliver a workplace that reflects Invenergy’s culture, ambition, and commitment to collaboration,” said Jacob Boyle, Project Executive at Skender.
