Skeeter Products Boosts Job Numbers
In May 2015, Skeeter Products Inc. struck a seven-year tax abatement deal with Gregg County in East Texas. As part of the agreement, the company agreed to a capital investment of $3.7 million and the addition of 20 new jobs. The deal was focused on a new manufacturing facility that the fishing-boat manufacturer was planning to build at 2606 U.S. 259 N. in Kilgore, TX.
Less than three years after the contract between company and county was signed, Skeeter met – and exceeded – its requirements. Skeeter increased its workforce by 81 jobs, which means it now employs 284 people, while generating more than $4.25 million in real and personal property investment.
“I’m just glad to have them in Kilgore (and) glad for their contribution,” said Gregg County Commissioner Gary Boyd at a recent commissioners’ meeting. “That’s a boon, not only to Kilgore, but to Gregg County as well.”
