Skanska Tops Out VA New Central Forensic Science Lab 

Skanska has topped out the new Central Region Forensic Laboratory in Hanover, Virginia. This 281,425-square-foot facility will house the Virginia Department of Forensic Science and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.  

“We are proud of the hardworking men and women who have been working diligently to provide an exceptional facility on behalf of the citizens of the Commonwealth,” said Mark Balling, executive vice president responsible for Skanska’s North Carolina and Virginia building operations. “We are pleased to have reached this milestone safely and look forward to delivering an outstanding facility that will serve the Commonwealth for generations to come.” 

The facility will host various laboratories for forensic analysis, autopsy performance, administrative functions, and more. Construction commenced in 2023 and is set for completion in 2025.
