Skanska to Build New $99M High School in Issaquah

Skanska secured a $99 million contract with the Issaquah School District to construct a new high school in Issaquah, Washington. Plans call for a 79,000-square-foot west wing and a capacity for 650-700 students.

The district has landed $146 million in available funds from past voter-approved bonds and other sources. Key project components include a covered parking garage, an athletic field for competitive and recreational sports, site amenities and landscaping improvements. The project also includes public infrastructure enhancements. Construction is scheduled to begin in April of 2026, with project completion targeted for August 2027.

The district has been planning for a fourth high school since voters approved land purchase bonds back in 2016 in direct response to relieve overcrowding at existing schools. Skyline High serves about 2,250 students, and Issaquah High serves about 2,500. The Pacific Northwest region has experienced significant population inflows over the past decade, driven by technology sector growth centered in Seattle.
