Skanska Secures $1.24B Contract to Reconstruct JFK Airport Roadways
Skanska, in partnership with Halmar International, has been awarded a contract by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey to undertake the $1.24 billion design and reconstruction of the Central Terminal Area Roadways, Utilities, and Ground Transportation Center (GTC) at John F. Kennedy International Airport in Queens, New York.
Parsons Corporation will serve as the lead designer for the Skanska Halmar JFK Joint Venture. The project aims to improve the airport’s roadway network and enhance the overall travel experience for passengers. The design-build project includes roadway reconfiguration, intuitive wayfinding, enhanced traffic technologies, retaining walls, bridges, utility relocations and upgrades, and the construction of a modern Ground Transportation Center.
The center will feature a multi-level parking facility, an elevated pedestrian bridge, and energy-efficient provisions. The project is expected to be completed by December 2027, contributing to the transformation of JFK into a world-class aviation hub.
