Skanska Lands $311M Contract to Build Simmons U. Residence, Campus Center

Skanska has landed a contract worth $311 million to construct Simmons University’s new Living and Learning Center in Boston, Massachusetts.

This project marks the final phase of the university’s ‘One Simmons’ plan, which aims to consolidate all facilities onto one campus. The center will encompass a student dormitory with over 1,000 beds, meeting and social spaces, office support areas, and a 500-seat dining facility. It will also include an athletics and fitness facility featuring a pool, gymnasium, rowing tanks, and a weight room. The building will house an existing central electrical plant and emergency generator serving the university’s academic buildings.

Construction is set to commence in May 2023, with completion scheduled for September 2026. Following the completion of the Living and Learning Center, Skanska will proceed with the development of Longwood Place.
