Skanska has secured a $22.6 million contract from the Town of Belmont to construct the new Belmont Skating Rink and Athletic Facility in Belmont, MA. Construction commenced in October 2023 and is slated for completion in early 2025. 

Set to replace the existing Viglirolo Skating Rink, the new 40,300-square-foot facility will feature a steel-framed, pre-engineered metal building housing a conventional 200-foot by 85-foot ice sheet, along with amenities like locker rooms, seating, and a concession stand.  

Designed by Galante Architecture Studio, the project looks to align with Belmont’s sustainability goals, incorporating PV solar panels and a heat pump refrigeration system. Skanska’s projects in Massachusetts includes the Deerfield Academy athletic complex and the Margot Connell Recreation Center at Boston College. This venture follows Skanska’s collaboration with Belmont on the construction and renovation of Belmont Middle and Belmont High School.
