Skanska Hosting First-Ever Online Bricks & Books Event for Rainier Scholars
Seattle-based Skanska is changing its eighth-annual Bricks & Books auction benefitting Rainier Scholars to an online fundraising campaign. Starting this week and running through September 4th, Skanska’s employees, partners and other commercial real estate industry members are encouraged to donate.
The annual event raises funds to support Rainier Scholars’ mission to cultivate the academic potential and leadership skills of underrepresented students of color. Last year’s auction raised $287,000 for Rainier Scholars, and Skanska has raised more than $1 million for Rainier Scholars since it began hosting Bricks & Books.
Skanska USA Building’s Matt Sanborn says, “Now, more than ever, our support is needed to continue to foster positive change and provide educational opportunities for low-income students of color. Programs like Rainier Scholars are essential to equalizing access and opportunities in education, something that Skanska values greatly.”
