Skanska Debuts 1550 on the Green
Its been over two years since a major office tower opened in Houston; the last being the 47-story Texas Tower. Skanska USA has completed major construction work on its new 28-story office tower next to Discovery Green downtown. Michael Hsu designed the project.
1550 on the Green offers 375,000 square feet of office space and 7,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space.
The Houston Business Journal reports The Discovery Green is a focal point, hence putting the fitness center on the second floor so workers hitting the treadmills are treated to a view of the canopy level of the park’s trees.
The feel of Discovery Green is also present in 1550 on the Green’s 9,600-square-foot amenity center on the 28th floor, which includes its own terrace as well as a lounge area with a bar and a 150-person conference room.
Skanska has already landed one tenant for the building, law firm Norton Rose Fulbright, who signed a lease three years ago.
