Simon will begin a redevelopment at its Brea Mall, demolishing a former Sears and adding residential uses

Simon Ready to Begin Mixed-Use Brea Mall Revamp

Simon will launch a long-planned, multimillion dollar redevelopment at Brea Mall, What Now Orange County reported. The multi-year project, which entails demolishing the former Sears store and building a new mixed-use development, will feature new retail and dining options, a resort-style fitness concept, luxury residential buildings totaling 380 units and an outdoor plaza.

“The continued investment in our retail growth will elevate the overall shopping, lifestyle and dining experience at Brea Mall,” said Nate Weirbach, director of marketing & business development, Brea Mall. “From families gathering in the outdoor plaza to shoppers exploring our newest retailer streetscape, the mall will continue to provide a welcoming environment in this new mixed-use space.”

The Brea City Council gave final approval to the project this past May, following December approval by the Planning Commission. Simon’s project joins a number of other mixed-use redevelopments of shopping malls in California and across the U.S.

Connect Orange County will take place Sept. 27, 2023 at VEA | Newport Beach Marriott in Newport Beach, concurrently with Connect Healthcare Real Estate on Sept. 27 and 28. Click here to register for Connect Orange County, and here to register for Connect Healthcare Real Estate.
