Simon Launches Construction on Norfolk Premium Outlets
Simon Property Group has launched construction on Norfolk Premium Outlets at Interstate 64 and Northampton Boulevard in Norfolk, VA. The 332,000-square-foot retail outlet center is scheduled to open in summer 2017.
The multimillion-dollar project on 44 acres is anticipated to generate 500 construction jobs and 800 full-time and part-time jobs upon completion, according to Simon Premium Outlet’s Mark Silvestri. The mall will host 85 retailers.
The groundbreaking takes place three years after the project was first announced. Norfolk Premium Outlets remained on paper during that time due to planning setbacks and political tension between neighboring cities.
