Simon revamping Domain shops facades

Simon Giving Domain Shops Multi-Million Dollar Facelift

The Austin Business Journal reports the Simon Property Group Inc. has embarked on a “multimillion-dollar” facelift for its portion of The Domain. Simon hopes to attract more luxury tenants and bolster one of its properties amid a rapidly shifting retail landscape. The company expects the facelift to wrap up in time for the 2024 holiday season.

Construction began in June on the building facades. In its first phase, Simon is redoing facades for two buildings, impacting 11 storefronts from All Saints to J. Crew. It is also undertaking a general renovation of common areas.

Simon has tapped Graycor as contractor for the renovations, Rundell Ernstberger Associates as landscape architect for the park and hardscape and GHA for building design.

Simon owns the original retail portion of The Domain — more than 1.2 million square feet on the western edge of the community near MoPac Expressway. At the end of last year, its space within The Domain was nearly 94% leased.
