Silverstein Parts Ways With Marty Burger

Marty Burger, the longtime CEO of Silverstein Properties, has left the company and has been succeeded by Lisa Silverstein, daughter of founder Larry Silverstein. First reported by the Wall Street Journal

Silverstein Properties noted that the transition to the next generation prompted the leadership change. Burger had a long career in real estate, previously working at Goldman Sachs’ Whitehall real estate investment fund and The Related Companies. He joined Silverstein Properties in 2009, eventually taking on the role of sole CEO.

During his tenure, he played a key role in the redevelopment of the World Trade Center site and pushed for office-to-residential conversions. Lisa Silverstein, who has been with the firm for 28 years, now takes over as CEO.
