ShipBob Completes Series C Round, Opens Cicero Warehouse

Tech statrtup ShipBob, which aims to help small and mid-sized e-commerce businesses compete with Amazon on same-day shipping, has raised $40 million in Series C funding. The company has also opened a fulfillment center in suburban Cicero, IL that is six times larger than its previous Chicago-area facility.

Menlo Ventures led the Series C round, and the firm’s Shawn Caroan will join ShipBob’s board. “This investment from Menlo Ventures will be used to scale up operations around all fulfillment centers, along with new hires needed to provide additional engineering, client success, sales and marketing support,” said Dhruv Saxena, co-founder and CEO of ShipBob.

Founded in 2014, ShipBob has shipped more than four million packages to date, and is growing the business 300% year over year. The locally based firm has also grown its headcount from 60 employees since last summer’s Series B funding round to over 400 employees today.
