Shenzhen Hazens Updates $700M DTLA Dev Plan

Connect Apartments is planned for September 28th in Los Angeles. Here’s where to get more information and register.

Shenzhen Hazens’ proposed $700-million 1020 S. Figueroa St. project in DTLA is being reviewed by the city’s Planning Commission this week. The Chinese developer plans to build two high-rise buildings with 435 condominiums, a 300-key W Hotel and roughly 80,000 square feet of commercial space.

The development is envisioned to rise on the Luxe City Center hotel site, across the street from L.A. Live. Earlier plans included a third tower with 215 condominiums. The podium structure wrapping the project has been reduced in the latest plan, and the public plaza along Figueroa Street is larger.

The roughly 430-foot-tall W Hotel at 11th Street was designed by Gensler, while the 540-foot residential tower at Olympic Boulevard was designed by Steinberg Architects. The two-phased construction plan would commence with the W Hotel. Then, the existing Luxe hotel would be demolished and the residential tower built.
