Shell to Depart Namesake Houston Building
Shell Oil announced it would vacate One Shell Plaza, and relocate the approximately 3,400 employees to its west Houston campus. Remaining behind at the company’s 1000 Main in Houston’s CBD will be trading and supply division employees. Employees will begin moving in Q1 2017.
Shell Oil, which is the U.S. operations of Royal Dutch Shell plc in the Netherlands, has already listed close to 300,000 square feet of downtown office space. No information was released about how much additional space from One Shell Plaza will be added to the sublease market. Nor is it known if the vacancy will prompt a name change for the building.
Shell Oil currently occupies 350,000 square feet in the 1.6-million-square-foot office building. Hines manages the office tower, which delivered in 1971.
