Shaq’s Big Chicken Restaurant to Open Tacoma Location

Big Chicken, a fried chicken restaurant backed by NBA Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neal, is set to open a new location in Tacoma. The 2,800-square-foot space restaurant will be located at 2601 N. Pearl Street, in North Tacoma’s Westgate North Shopping Center, reported the Puget Sound Business Journal.

According to its website, Big Chicken was founded in 2018 and is backed by a group including O’Neal, New York-based Authentic Brand Group and Las Vegas-based JRS Hospitality. The casual fast-food chain serves fried chicken sandwiches, mac’ n’ cheese and hand-crafted ice cream shakes.

Per the Journal, the Pearl Street franchise owner is Tony Puckett, a Tacoma local. The new location’s opening comes several months after he filed tenant-improvement plans for the space. Puckett said he hopes to continue to open more stores between south King County and Vancouver.
