Shanghai Free Trade Zone Promoted in L.A.

Connect Media will have a special, in-depth report on China next week, examining how investors from that country are making an impact on U.S. commercial real estate. Look for the first part on Sept. 28!

Shanghai officials will be in Los Angeles Thursday, Sept. 24, promoting the Shanghai Free Trade Zone, which reportedly makes it easier for U.S.-based companies to do business in the Chinese city by eliminating duty fees and making the process more streamlined.

“Invest Shanghai”, sponsored by the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corp., will take place at the JW Marriott Hotel in downtown Los Angeles.

Disneyland is already taking advantage of the Shanghai Free Trade Zone to build a theme park in that city, scheduled to open next year. Officials in Shanghai would like to see a technology and science center developed as well.

The Shanghai Free Trade Zone was launched in 2013.
