Serta Simmons Steers HQ to Former GM Plant Near Atlanta
Serta Simmons plans to relocate its corporate headquarters to Assembly, a proposed $2-billion mixed-use redevelopment in Doraville, GA. The 165-acre project is being developed by Atlanta-based The Integral Group at a former GM plant about 15 miles northeast of Atlanta.
The bedding manufacturer plans to consolidate operations from several sites, including its Chicago area HQ, as well as Atlanta-area offices in Buckhead, Sandy Springs, and Norcross, GA. The move is expected to bring 500 jobs.
The master developer plans to sell roughly six acres to Holder Properties, which will invest $65 million into developing the five-story campus and R&D facility for Serta Simmons. Doraville offered economic development incentives for the project including $4.5 million in property tax breaks.
Cushman & Wakefield’s Aileen Almassy, Andy Sumlin and Laura Power are handling leasing at Assembly.
