Semiconductor Industry Supplier Chooses McGregor for $210M Plant
EFC Gases & Advanced Materials is investing $210 million in a new plant about 90 miles north of Austin. The supplier to the semiconductor industry plans to build a new manufacturing facility in McGregor, halfway between Austin and DFW. The chemical supplier will have plenty of semiconductor industry manufacturers to choose from. Besides the $17 billion Samsung plant in Taylor, Texas Instruments is building a huge facility in Sherman, and a tech startup is building a plant on 288 acres in Bryan.
EFC Gases & Advanced Materials, a Massachusetts-based chemical supplier, will build the facility on 195 acres and is expected to create at least 120 jobs.
The Austin Business Journal reports EFC’s facility will feature an administrative building, a logistics hub, a central laboratory and chemical synthesis operations, according to the announcement. The company serves both the semiconductor and aerospace industries.
EFC’s new manufacturing plant will be in the McGregor Industrial Park, which already houses prominent companies like Elon Musk’s Space Exploration Technologies Corp. (photo)
