Sembler Co. Announces Plans for 46-Acre MXU Project in Myrtle Beach

Commercial development firm Sembler Co. has announced plans to develop The Mill, a 46-acre mixed-use project in Myrtle Beach’s Carolina Forest community.

Located at the intersection of River Oaks Drive and Carolina Forest Boulevard, the project is slated to include retail amenities, office space and multifamily residences in partnership with Hawthorne Residential Partners. The development will include a freestanding, 46,800-square-foot Publix grocery store as well as Marketplace at The Mill, a 66,680-sqaure-foot, grocery-anchored neighborhood center fronted by seven outparcels. The site is currently under contract and is expected to close and begin construction this summer.

“When we started to scout South Carolina for grocery-anchored development opportunities, we didn’t have to look much further than Horry County and the Carolina Forest community,” said Josh Beyer, senior vice president of development at Sembler. “This is the fastest growing region in the state and the 2nd fastest growing MSA in the country. We just had to find the right site that provides visibility for our tenants and accessibility for the surrounding community, and we did.”
