SeaWorld Moves Fast on Second Onsite Hotel
Just over a month ago SeaWorld in Orlando announced plans for a 504-room hotel within the park boundaries. Another is on the way. The company now wants to build its own 250-unit hotel adjacent to Discovery Cove, now a parking lot. The project is slated to cost $100 million.
The Orlando Business Journal reports the new hotel will be a six-story building with nearly 7,000 square feet of meeting space, a 7,200 square foot restaurant and other amenities including a large pool, bar, spa and fitness space.
Other companies involved with the early plans include Atlanta-based architecture firm Cooper Carry, and landscape architects from the Orlando office of Fort Lauderdale-based EDSA. The hotel brand is believed to be Hilton.
SeaWorld — one of Central Florida’s largest employers, with nearly 5,000 local workers — owns 12 theme parks across the U.S., including SeaWorld Orlando and Discovery Cove in Orlando.
