Seattle’s Tallest Mass Timber Building Grows
Pryde Development is adding six additional stories to a mass timber development in Seattle’s Capital Hill neighborhood. Akari House is planned to rise 18 stories now and will expand to include 135 apartment units, an increase from 108.
The site on First Hill at 1422 Seneca St., is near Broadway, Seattle University and medical campuses. A Whole Foods and Optimism Brewery are close-by too. Apartment units are planned to range in size from 320 to 480 square feet. The development will incorporate natural materials, lush landscaping and deliver expansive views in all directions.
The cross-laminated timber project will be the tallest in the Emerald City. The architect for the project is Clark Barnes. Construction is expected to commence in fall 2020.
