Seattle Selling $22M Civic Square Development to Bosa

The city of Seattle plans to sell its stalled Civic Square project to Bosa Development, in hopes of generating close to $22 million for equitable development and affordable housing. The transaction replaces an earlier agreement with Triad Development, and if approved by the Seattle city council in 2017, construction could start in 2018. Bosa Development will build a residential tower, retail space and public plaza.

The development of Civic Square, on the vacant site of what used to be the old Public Safety building in downtown Seattle, has been anticipated since 1999, the date of the site’s master plan. In 2007, Triad Development planned to develop the site, but financing fell through during the recession.
