Sears Headquarters Campus Coming to Market in Early 2022

Sears will put its 273-acre corporate headquarters in Hoffman Estates, IL up for sale after 30 years of calling the northwest suburb its home, the Chicago Tribune reported

Transformco, parent company of the struggling retailer, which has been downsizing operations and corporate staff for several years, confirmed its plans Thursday to market the property in early 2022.

“These changes have reduced our needs for a corporate campus that was built 30 years ago for the needs of a more centralized business,” a Transformco spokesman told the Tribune. “We are exploring development opportunities for the Hoffman Estates property that enhance its value for both associates based there and the broader Hoffman Estates community.”

The spokesman said employees have operated under a hybrid structure during the pandemic. He declined to say how many employees are based in Hoffman Estates, or where future headquarters may be located.
