Sears Closing Three More Maryland Stores
Embattled retailer Sears has announced plans to close three more stores in White Marsh, Annapolis and Waldorf, MD.
Liquidation sales have begun with stores set to close by April. The closings will leave several suburban malls with large gaps in their retail offerings. The stand-alone White Marsh location totals 168,716 square feet, the Annapolis Sears is located in the Westfield Annapolis Mall, and the Waldorf’s Sears is located in the St. Charles Towne Centre.
The Chicago-based chain has 182 locations remaining and three left in Maryland in Bel Air, Glen Burnie and Silver Spring. Sears’ parent company, TransformCo., was given a $250 million loan in November to assist in restructuring the struggling chain.
