Hoffman Estates, IL-based Sears Holding Corp. plans to close an additional 28 Kmart stores across the country, including four in California. The stores are slated to be shuttered in mid-November, except for one in Florida.
The four California stores to be closed include one in Bellflower (10400 Rosecrans Ave.), one in Hesperia (16968 Main St.), one in Valencia (23222 W. Valencia Blvd.), and one in Jackson, roughly 50 miles southeast of Sacramento (10500 Wicklow Way).
Sears has already shuttered 180 stores this year, with an additional 150 stores slated for closure, set to shut by the end of next quarter. Sears now has 1,250 stores overall in the U.S., with 650 branded as Sears and 610 flying the Kmart flag.
Liquidation sales are anticipated to come as early as the end of August. The retailer plans to offer severance to eligible employees affected by the closures.
