Texas to get second Scheels store in Cedar Park

Scheels to Start Work on 240K-SF Sporting Goods Store in Cedar Park

Sporting goods stores just can’t sell running shoes anymore. To keep up, the trend is to bring much more: simulators, live demonstrations and, if the store is Scheels, a huge, indoor Ferris wheel.

The North Dakota-based sporting goods chain plans to start construction soon on its massive, $110 million retail store and entertainment destination, expected in late 2026. It’s located at 750 E. New Hope Drive in Cedar Park, next to a 1.2 million square foot Nebraska Furniture mart store. The center will also include apartments, a hotel, a convention center and 250,000 square feet of retail.

Scheels will feature entertainment attractions, specialty shops and boutiques across 240,000 square feet and employ more than 500 people.

About 1 million pieces of inventory will be spread out across the store, alongside a 65-foot Ferris wheel, a 16,000-gallon saltwater aquarium with more than 600 fish and a wildlife mountain. There will also be a candy shop, arcade games, sports simulators and food selections.

The Cedar Park store will be the chain’s 35th.
