Sason, JLL Move Quickly on SD-Area Office Complex

Sason real estate investors has picked up its first office building in San Diego, with quick plans to begin a renovation to the structure, as well as its rebranding of Chesapeake Corporate Center.

JLL is handling the leasing of the soon-to-be-known-as “Canvas on Chesapeake” – a two-story, 59,175-square-foot office building located at 9555 Chesapeake Dr. in the Kearney Mesa submarket of San Diego. Richard Gonor and Tony Russell of JLL are handling leasing at this property, but did not broker this acquisition. (A previous edition of this story misidentified brokers’ duties.)

Hoping to waste very little time, Sason will “begin immediately on a $1.5 million repositioning that will include a modernized façade, updated landscaping, creating indoor/outdoor work spaces off the building’s lobbies, modernizing the three lobbies, updating the elevators, lighting and other mechanical systems, installing a new roof, and developing two new spec suites (17,000 and 3,000 square feet) to accommodate users immediately,” according to the release.

“Areas like Kearny Mesa, Scripps Ranch and other submarkets are primed to see increased tenant demand for office space that meets the needs of users and their employees,” added Richard Gonor, JLL Executive Vice President.
