Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital Completes $820M Renovation
Connect Healthcare is just around the corner on October 29 and 30 at The Resort at Pelican Hill in Newport Beach, CA. Follow this link for more information and to register for the conference.
Next month, patients will be able to move into Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital’s new pavilions that were completed as part of an $820 million modernization program designed to bring the hospital up to new state earthquake requirements. The final phase of new construction at the hospital encompassed roughly 134,000 square feet of new space and 90 beds in two new pavilions.
In addition to housing Cottage Children’s Medical Center, the revamped pavilion facility will also hold its oncology and dialysis units. Renovations include an expanded emergency department featuring 24 private rooms, and a new CT scanner and X-ray unit, as well as a first-floor amphitheater and museum.
The renovation started in 2005 at the 450-bed acute care teaching hospital and trauma center. The hospital at 400 W. Pueblo St. was founded in 1888 by 50 women determined to provide a healthcare facility for the then-growing community of Santa Barbara.
