Sanderson Farms Clears Potential Expansion Hurdle
Sanderson Farms obtained approval to place utility lines for its East Texas expansion. Smith County Commissioners Court approved a memorandum of understanding between the poultry producer, county and Tyler Economic Development Council for placement of the utility lines along Farm-to-Market Road 15, which is owned by Texas Department of Transportation.
Sanderson Farms is developing a processing plant in Winona TX, at Interstate 20 and Farm-to-Market Road 2015. The processing plant is estimated to cost $130 million. Meanwhile, the company is also developing a feed-and-rail facility in Mineola, TX and a hatchery and offices in the Lindale Industrial Park in Tyler, TX. The hatchery has an estimated price tag of $18 million.
Construction is underway on the feed and rail facility, with development on the Lindale Hatchery anticipated to begin by mid-to-late September 2017.
